According to the Police Service Commission (PSC) chairman, Mike Okiro:
“The commission adhered strictly to the requirements in terms of qualifications and physical features. Many applicants who failed to meet these requirements were dropped.
The screening exercise will start on Monday with the aptitude test for Cadet ASPs for both general duty and specialists. On Tuesday, it will be the turn of Cadet Inspectors, also for both general duty and specialists. The Constables from both cadres will take their turn on Wednesday.”

1. Nigeria Police Force Recruitment List breakdown
The PSC chairman gave a full breakdown of those that qualified. Here it is:
Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police – 22,454 – made up of 10,290 for general duties and 12,164 specialists; Cadet Inspectors – 24,456 – made up of 11,639 for general duties 12, 817 for specialists and Constables – 63,559 – comprising 40,492 for general duties and 23,067 for specialists.
115 applicants were arrested for breaches ranging from document forgery to impersonation and others. Some candidates were screened out of the exercise for being over-age, falsifying or forging documents, tattoo marks, and having physical deformities.
2. Nigeria Police Force Recruitment Aptitude test dates
The test begins today, August 22 at designated centers. Each candidate that was shortlisted will receive a mail, giving instructions on where and when to write the recruitment test. Cadet Assistant Superintendents will write first, while Cadet Inspectors will write theirs on Tuesday, August 23. On Wednesday, August 24, the constables will write their aptitude test.
3. Nigeria Police Force Recruitment – List checking
The master list for each state has been sent to all state commands to paste at command headquarters and examination centers. Therefore all shortlisted applicants can visit police commands in their respective states to check for their names on the master list, if they did not receive emails.
4. Nigeria Police Force Recruitment Screening
The checking of documents and physical screening of specialists is scheduled for one week later on Monday, August 29. It has been previously stated that all candidates must have the following documents: first school leaving certificate, certificate of state origin and class of degree or diploma. Falsification or forgery will lead to prosecution of the offender according to the PSC.
5. Nigeria Police Force Recruitment Aptitude test
The times are as follows: Aptitude test is scheduled for 24th August 2016 10:00 am prompt while the physical training will take place on 31st of August 8:00 am across all state commands.
Furthermore, all are to present both the original copies and photocopies of the following documents:
i. Duly Completed Guarantor’s Form;
ii. State of Origin Certificate;
iii. Educational Certificates;

Nigeria Police Force Recruitment: Commission to consider candidates on reserve list
The Police Service Commission (PSC), says it will consider applicants on the reserve list for interview for recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force.
A statement issued by, Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations of the commission on Thursday, said that candidates for specialists cadre would also be invited for interview at the appropriate time.
He said the clarification became necessary because the 2016 successful candidates were already in various Police training schools across the country.
“The applicants on the reserve list will be considered in line with available vacancies from the Training Colleges.
“The commission is awaiting reports from the Police Staff College, Jos, and the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos, where candidates for ASPs and Inspectors respectively are undergoing training,” he said.
Mr. Ani explained that reports from the Training Colleges were expected to contain the status of the trainees, state by state after the required screening at the Colleges.
He said that vacancies would be filled from the shortlisted reserve list from the states where they occur based strictly on their placement on the reserve list.
The spokesman said that interview for specialists scheduled for Dec. 21, 22 and 23, 2016 could not hold because of a letter from professional bodies questioning qualifications of some candidates on the list.
He said the letters came from the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria and National Secretary and Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.
Mr. Ani explained that the bodies insisted that the applicants must be registered and licenced because the profession was regulated.
“In order to meet the 2016 recruitment schedule and resolve issues raised by the bodies, the commission decided to suspend the interview and allow the selected candidates in both General duty and Specialists to proceed on training which began on Dec.31, 2016,“he said.
He said candidates scheduled for interview would be invited along with candidates for the 2017 recruitment after resolution of the issues raised by the bodies.
Ani warned that anybody smuggled into the colleges outside the approved list would be arrested and punished accordingly.
He said the commission would protect the integrity of the exercise and would stop at nothing at punishing anybody caught.
“The commission wishes to re-emphasise that it does not solicit for payments or bribes for recruitment.
“Anybody who has given money to be recruited should come forward with verifiable complaints to enable the commission take appropriate action,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 had approved the recruitment of 10,000 policemen. (NAN)
