Remains of 10 drowned sailors recovered after US warship collided with a merchant vessel
The bodies of 10 sailors who drowned seven days ago when a US navy guided-missile destroyer collided with an oil tanker in waters east of Singapore, have been recovered.
The guided-missile destroyer collided with the Alnic MC east of Singapore last week while approaching the city state on a routine port visit.
“The U.S. navy and marine corps divers have now recovered the remains of all 10 USS John S.McCain sailors,” the Seventh Fleet said in a statement on its website.

Reports say the bodies of the 10 sailors were found by the navy inside sealed sections of the damaged hull of the warship.
“The incident is under investigation to determine the facts and circumstances of the collision,” the statement added.
During the incident which happened seven days ago, five sailors were hurt, four of whom were evacuated for treatment for non-life threatening injuries, and one, who did not require further medical attention.
The incident is recorded as the second accident involving an American warship in two months.
Recall in June that no less than seven sailors died when the USS Fitzgerald and a container ship hit each other in waters off Japan.
